A Model 1934 - Sturmabteilung Ehrendolch by Ernst Pack & Sohne of Solingen. Ernst Röhm Honour Daggers were granted to members of the SS and SA who either had interrupted service since December 31, 1931, or those who transferred from the Hitler Youth prior to that time (February 22, 1934 - II Order Nr. 2869). After the Night of the Long Knives, Ernst Röhm was declared a “traitor” and removal of the inscription was mandated (July 4, 1934 - II Daily Record Nr. 7566).

The blade on this one looks great. The “In herzlicher kameradschaft Ernst Röhm” inscription has been removed and cleaned. Only faint traces/impressions of the original inscription remains. The “Alles für Deutschland” motto and “E. P. & S. Solingen” maker mark are both beautifully executed. The crossgrain shines quite nicely in the light. The fit and tip are both perfect. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows cleaning throughout. The textbook E. P. & S. style SA scabbard is steel based and brown anodized. It shows typical age along with the faintest impressions to the obverse. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings look excellent. The ball has a wee bruise to the bottom and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fitting, again textbook E. Pack style, look excellent as well, matching the scabbard fittings perfectly. The reverse of the lower crossguard is not gau marked, indicating it is very early (further evidenced with the copper roundel), and may have been presented. The light brown grained hardwood grip is in wonderful condition. The reverse shows three “X” marks, I’ll let you guess what that could mean. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The earliest copper SA roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit. This Textbook earliest era E. Pack.
