Very Early SA Dagger by Carl Eickhorn

Very Early Model 1933 - Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade on this one looks great. The acid etched “Alles fur Deutschland” motto and double oval seated smooth tail squirrel “Carl Eikchorn Solingen” maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. There is some age spotting/grey throughout along with the common scratches from the runners. The scabbard is sheet metal based and brown anodized. It has been cleaned of its anodized finish, leaving only traces towards the fittings. It shows oxidization spotting throughout. The solid nickel-silver scabbard fittings are in excellent shape. The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The crossguards are solid nickel-silver. It is bench marked: “5”, not required yet nice to see on these early Eickhorns. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped “Wf” (Westfallen). The brown hardwood grip looks great. It has that correct shape for Eikchorn. It shows minor bruising throughout. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A fine example.
