NSFK Dagger

Ok so right off the bat These were only made by Helbig, this one with a SMF blade is NOT textbook. Why, when, who and how the original blade was replaced I do not know. Known in the hobby as the "crackle finish" NSFK these were an interesting attempt by to circumvent the material shortages that devastated the edged weapon manufacturers as the war progressed. Copper being absolutely critical was diverted to war materials and the dagger manufacturers were left to their own devices to find substitutes. Of course copper was necessary to make nickel so they designed an aluminum DLV to fill this niche. Polished blade is a NM example with just a bit of age and 100% crossgrain. The maker mark is correctly etched. The hilt fittings are solid aluminum with a pleasing matte finish. The leather, (another material suffering shortages) on these has been substituted with a "crackle" paint that imitates the leather quite well, is in good shape with 100% coverage. The grip and scabbard are all matching in grain and texture. They did use leather on the buffer pad which its intact. The undented scabbard features a perfect ball and all screws intact. The throat is correctly marked. A good example of a rare variant at 1/2 the price you would be expect to pay!.
