Early SS Dagger by Böker

An early model 1933 Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Heinrich Böker & Co. of Solingen. The most desirable maker of SS daggers, known for their quality and slogan “The best is just good enough.”. The blade on this one has been cleaned hard removing the crossgrain. I say that and the etch is still nice and dark and the blade is bright. It features the textbook etching characteristics with their unique “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and chestnut tree “Böker Solingen” maker. The blade is perfectly seated up against the crossguard and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc+. The steel based black painted scabbard looks good. It has some scratches and the finish is crazed. It remains completely dent free. The ball retains a nice round shape and all four screws remain intact, (one is a replacement). So guys ask me about Boker's with painted scabbards, asking if they were ever made that way. The answer is yes, and, people prefer the anodized finish. The nickel-silver crossguards look great. They have a few bumps throughout. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamp “I” (Munich). It is also serialized, "37595". The black died hardwood grip shows typical age with minor bumps throughout (some obvious from a vertical hanger) and hairlines to the reverse lower left corner. The solid nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed with a perfect fit. The later "thick runes" SS roundel retains 90%+ of its enamel and also has a good fit! It’s getting tougher and tougher to find any SS daggers anymore!
