A M1938 - 2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dolch für Offiziere by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one has beautiful dark etching. The fit is nice and tight. The mid-period Eickhorn stamped "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark is correctly executed. There is just a bit of age about the maker mark. The blade on this one rates a solid NM. The textbook tan buffer pad remains. The brass based, lightning bolt scabbard has some dents and surface verdigris that could be cleaned if you so wish. The details and hand enhancing are beautifully displayed! The throat retaining screws remain intact and unturned. The brass based hilt and pommel are beautifully detailed with the fouled anchor and a proud Kreigsmarine eagle sitting right on top! The hilt and scabbard match in gilding, color and patina. The wood based, white celluloid grip is has cracks. The double twisted brass wire wrap remains tightly intact! Included is a correct but heavily worn Navy portepee. This is what they look like coming direct from Vet's family 80 years later!
