The Hugo Servatius, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began sometime around 1918. Their trademark of a bird flying by the setting sun, was originally owned by Gustav Theegarten, yet in 1920 it was purchased and re-registered by Servatius. From 1920-1939, Servatius advertised in the Die Klinge magazine, as a manufacturer of: scissors, cutlery, cake slicers, manicure articles and gifts. The 1932 advertisement above features Servatius advertising their 6-inch nickel plated steel scissors and shears. Come the Third Reich, early era SA daggers were manufactured-Fisher estimates 1,000. In 1939 the company was located on Gasstrasse 31 in Solingen. Servatius also owned G.E. Bick, which was trading from the same address.
