The Julius Pilz Söhne Messerfabrik company traces its beginnings back to 1885. Pilz was one of ten businesses that manufacturer cutlery in northern Bohemia. In 1913, the founder Julius Pilz's passed, and his sons registered the company as "Julius Pilz Söhne." Come 1939, the company was advertising manufacturing SA daggers and HJ knives for the Third Reich. Fisher's reference estimates the company only made 1,000 SA daggers. Pilz received its RZM permit (Erl.) M7/117 on February 25, 1939. A November 1, 1940, advertisement in Messer and Schere markets: "quality pocket knives, hunting and gardening knives, etc." The company ceased trading in 1945.
