Earliest of the Early Hitler Youth Dagger

Well guys, I get about one of these a year. For those of you who collect HJ's this is one you need to own! Made by Anton Wingen These were only made for a very short while before the HJ knife was standardized. The blade on this one has had a few MM's snapped off the end. If you can forgive that the blade itself is very clean with just a few scuffs, it is correctly stamped with the maker mark. The grip plates are early bake-lite. The diamond/ spanner assembly is in place instead of the lower rivet assembly. Exactly what you want to see. See how the early bake-lite has shrunk back from the lower guard? That's not a problem, rather very typical of Wingen's early bake-lite which was the worse of all the makers for shrinkage. It's actually a sign of autheticity!! There's some enamel loss to the white area of the diamond. There is a false bayonet lug to the top of the steel based hilt. Finally the scabbard shows it's age. There is paint loss and the reverse portion of the leather is broke loose. There's some period stitching to the lower so I think this was period repaired along the way. Regardless the snap functions fine. The leather is supple. A very rare variation HJ.
