The C. Lütters & Co., Löwenwerk Fabrik feiner Stahlwaren company began in 1840 by Carl Lütters. It registered with the Solingen authorities on May 28, 1862. In 1900, the owners were Walter Lütters and Karl Ernst. Fourteen years later the owners were Walter Lütters and widow Emilie Lütters. In 1920, it was advertising: pocket and pen knives, razors, hunting, gardening and grafting knives, table, bread, meat and craftsmen's knives and all types of scissors. The 1922 advertisement above features: pocket knives, cutlery, razors and scissors. During the Third Reich era, HJ knives, SA daggers and some fireman and dress bayonets were manufactured. In 1935, the company was located on Bismarckstraße 3 in Solingen. That same year they received their RZM M7/59 code. Walter Lütters and widow Anna Lütters were owners from 1928-39. In 1971, the company expanded to Bismarckstraße 3-7. The company is now owned by Wilhelm Backhaus and advertising as "Löwenmesser." It continues to sell: professional handcrafted knives and scabbards, scissors and pocket knives used in crafts, industry, agriculture and fishing.
