Gebrüder Born, Solingen | RZM M7/82

The Gebrüder Born, Besteckfabrik, company began in 1922. The firm specialized in the manufacturing and sale of cutlery. Born registered in Solingen on February 1, 1934. Come the Third Reich era, Born made: bayonets, hunting sidearms and early SA daggers-Fisher estimates 2,000 and McSaar rates them 7 out of 10 for rarity. In our opinion, they are much rarer than they both claim. In 1938, Born received its RZM license RZM M7/82, while it was located on Kasinostrasse 13 in Solingen. In 1939, the firm was owned by Hugo and Arthur Born. That same year Born was listed in Die Klinge as an RZM approved maker of SA daggers and HJ knives. No knives or daggers have been observed, by us, with an RZM mark to date. Their RZM license was revoked June 2, 1942. In 1957, the firm was still operational as a manufacture of kitchen cutlery, bread and butchers knives. The firm ceased trading on June 10, 1960.
