Gottfried Hoppe Söhne, Solingen
The Gottfried Hoppe Söhne, Export-Stahlwarenfabrik, company began sometime prior to 1900, while owner by Friedrich and Karl Robert Hoppe. In its beginnings Hoppe manufactured knives and cutlery. The company was located on Bruhlerstrasse 17/19 in Solingen. In 1914, the owners were listed as Paul, Richard and Walter Hoppe. By 1928, Paul was no longer included. Come the Third Reich era, early SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 4,000 and McSaar lists it as an 8 out of 10 for rarity. We however believe SA daggers by this maker are much rarer. It is likely Hoppe ceased trading after the war.
