Hugo Berns, Hubeo, Solingen-Ohligs
The Hugo Berns, Werkzeugbestecke, company began in 1903. It registered with the Solingen authorities on September 5, 1904. Come 1915, Berns registered its "Hubeo" trademark. Berns specialized in muti-tool sets in leather cases, knives and metalware. In 1922, the firm was located on Querstrasse 59 in Solingen-Ohligs. Come the Third Reich era, early SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 2,000. By 1935, Berns did not receive and RZM license. In 1939, Erwin Berns was listed as the owner. The firm seems to have survived the war and may be making plastics and synthetics.
