The J. E. Dittert & Co. company began in Neustadt, Sachsen. Dittert was founded sometime prior to 1895, when it registered their plumbline within a triangle trademark. In its beginnings, the company specialized in pocket knives and surgical instruments (Taschenmesser- and Chirurgie-Instrumente-Fabrik). Come the Third Reich, early era SA/NSKK daggers were manufactured. It is estimated that they manufactured 1000 SA/NSKK daggers during that time. Little else is known about the company and its survival.
