The Paul A. Henckels Nachf, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1898. The "Paul A. Henckels" over "Solingen" maker mark was registered that same year. Henckels specialized in promotional items including: pocket knives and cutlery, marked with brand names, slogans and/or trademarks. In 1914, the firm was located on Florastrasse 87, while owned by Hugo Röltgen. Come 1928, ownership changed to W. Birkendahl and A. Höhmann. In the 1932 Deutsches Reichs-Adressbuch, P. Henckels advertised "Promotional items of all kinds", while on Kurze Strasse 8-10. P. Henckels registered with the Solingen authorities on December 28, 1932. Come the Third Reich era, early SA daggers were manufactured-Fisher estimates 2,000. In 1939, the owners were listed as Paula Birkendahl and Grete Hohmann. Paul Henckels was still manufacturing promotional items in 1962. Recent records list the company as an advertising agency and locates the business at Beethovenstraße 258 in Solingen. As of January 13, 2023, there was a change in the commercial registry. Their website is no longer working and records indicate it is "Temporarily Closed".
