Perfectum, Ewald Spitzer, Solingen

The Perfectum-Stahlwarenfabrik company traces its beginnings back to Ewald Spitzer in 1920. That same year E. Spitzer and C.D. Schaaff partnered, amalgamating under the C. D. Schaaff Stahlwarenfabrik company. The Perfectum brand name was also registered, that year, with the Solingen chamber of commerce. In 1928, Alexander Schaaff was listed as the sole owner of C.D. Schaaff. E. Spitzer likely left the partnership that year and both businesses continued separately. Come the Third Reich, early era (1933/35) SA daggers were made-Fisher estimates 1,000. There were likely some trademark disputes, as the trawlerman smoking a pipe was on SA daggers above "C. D. Schaaff Solingen Gebr. 1871" and "Perfectum" above and "Solingen" below. In 1935, Perfectum did not receive an RZM license. An April 1938, advertisement features Perfectum's promotional items including: pocket and pen knives, nail scissors and files, pens and ashtrays. Perfectum also made safety razors. In 1938, the company was recorded at Florastrasse 81-87 in Solingen-Aufderhöhe. I was unable to attain any records from 1939-2004. On July 9, 2004, the owner Erich Korte registered the "Perfectum-Stahlwarenfabrik Ewald Spitzer" company with the District Court of Wuppertal. The company was recorded trading at Schnepperter Str. 20 in Solingen. Bread and chef knives were made, at that time, marked with the trawlerman smoking a pipe and/or marked "E. Spitzer Solingen". The company dissolved April 8, 2015.
