NPEA Student Dagger by Karl Burgsmuller
A beautiful piece, from an advanced collector! The blade on this one is a wonderful example! The acid etched "Mehr sein als scheinen." (Be more than you appear to be.) motto and "Karl Burgsmuller Berlin" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The crossgrain on this piece is absolutely stunning and can easily been seen as you shine it in the light! The blade rates a solid NM! There is the slightest age spotting along with the commonly seen runner marks. The brown felt buffer pad remains intact. The olive painted scabbard looks excellent! It retains 98% paint coverage and remains completely dent free! It continues to hold both of its original throat retaining screws and the ball remains magnetic and perfectly round! The correctly shaped stud is marked "753 H". The die struck aluminum based matte crossguards look excellent! The top crossguard is marked "EW" to the interior. The brown hardwood grip is in beautiful condition! It has the common pressure mark, yet no cracks, chips, splits or flakes! This piece also comes with an age crazed frog that has all of its stitching intact. A wonderful example of a rare dagger missing from most collections!
