NPEA Student Dagger by Karl Burgsmuller
A great piece just pulled out of the woodwork, never been in a collection, never been apart never screwed with! The blade on this one looks good! The acid etched "Mehr sein als scheinen." (Be more than you appear to be.) motto and "Karl Burgsmuller Berlin" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. Some crossgraining can still be seen as you shine it in the light. The blade rates an Exc+. There is age grey and spotting throughout along with some hits to the edges. The tip looks slightly dulled yet it continues to measure the full 220mm. The brown felt buffer pad remains intact. The olive painted scabbard looks great! It continues to hold 97% paint coverage! It has a pressure mark to the back. It continues to hold both of its original throat retaining screws and the ball remains magnetic and perfectly round! The correctly shaped stud is marked "752 H". The die struck aluminum based matte crossguards look excellent! The top crossguard is marked ?EW? to the interior. The pommel nut is steel. The brown hardwood grip looks great! It has some cracks and pressure marks throughout! This piece also comes with a worn black/brown frog that is absolutely original to the piece. A great example of a rare dagger missing from most collections!
