A nice piece with a two piece hanger! The blade on this piece is decent. There are four nicks to the bottom edge along with light scratches and odd spotting throughout. The blade does have a nice dark motto and maker mark, the crossgrain also looks good and the fit is excellent. If you run your nail down the edge it will catch a couple times. The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. The scabbard is a period repaint, (which all early NSKK's are) that is in good condition. There are some scratches to its surface revealing its brown anodized base. The solid nickel fittings are in excellent condition with even wear. The ball is near perfect. All of the screws remain intact and unturned. The solid nickel crossguards are evenly worn and still remain in great condition. The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "He" (Hessen). The light colored oak grip is in excellent condition, with an excellent fit! Just above the roundel there is the commonly seen hairline crack. The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed. The roundel is a bit aged and retains all of its enamel. The DRGM marked clip is in well working condition as well. A great piece, in need of a good home!
