How often do you see one of these?! We have here an Eastern Territory Government Official's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn! The blade on this piece is excellent! The crossgrain is stunning and runs the full length of the blade. The dark and crisp, acid etched "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. With a perfect tip and fit, this one rates in at NM. It shows some minor age greying throughout. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is a beautiful, dent-free, steel based and gold gilded example. The gilded scabbard body depicts nice details with a random pebbled body and two oak leaf bands. The back side original throat retaining screw remains intact and unturned. The scabbard snugly fits up against the hilt. The crossguard is tombak based and gold gilded. It depicts a regal eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. It wonderfully displays details throughout the eagles head, chest, wings, and thick wreathed swastika. The glamorous eagle head pommel, screw cap, ferrule and front side plate are all tombak based and gold gilded. These components all hold together two mother of pear grip plates. They are in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or splits! All of the exterior components match in gilding, patina, age and color. Overall this is a textbook beauty that wonderfully shows off hand-fitted German craftsmanship! For the advanced collection that demands nothing but the best!
