Here we have a beauty die struck, alloy based, silver washed and blackened Russian Front Medal by Foerster & Barth! The obverse depicts the early national closed winged eagle clutching a stagnant swastika in its talons, in front of a laurel wreath and below an M35 pattern helmet and model 24 grenade. The reverse reads: "Winterschlacht Im Ostem 1941/42" (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42), which is above a crossed sword and laurel leaves and below the same helmet and grenade. The ring is maker marked "10" (Foerster & Barth, Pforzheim). It comes with a 9 inch worn ribbon. Wonderful silver wash and blackening remain. It has some minor pebbling throughout yet retains beautiful detail! A great maker marked example!
