A rare and desirable example! This is a two piece, die struck, tombak/aluminum based, burnished and silver washed Luftwaffe Pilot Badge by C.E. Juncker. The obverse features a centrally placed massive swooping Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The eagle is the attached to a half laurel leaf, half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse displays a full back with all of the correct features. It has the "C.E. Juncker Berlin S W" maker mark, aluminum barrel hinge, with tombak barrel, repaired round wire catch (very common on these the aluminum ones the catches did not stand up), tombak round wire pin and two aluminum rivets. The obverse displays absolutely beautiful details throughout the eagle wings, chest and wreath. It is very light weight. The award comes housed in the appropriate wood and pressed cardboard case that has a simulated blue pebbled leather covering. The obverse correctly reads: "Flugzeugführer abz" in gold. The tombak hinge and button work well. It has scuffs throughout. An nice cased example of a rare and desirable piece!
