An excellent, textbook, type B pattern by Friedrich Linden of Ludenscheid! The badge features a two-piece construction, consisting of a die struck gold gilded brass based eagle and a die struck blackened zinc wreath (FLL was known for having a high quality zinc. It is commonly referred to as Finezink.). The obverse depicts a diving Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika within its talons, and is above/surrounded by a blackened laurel/oak leaf wreath. The reverse shows the correct; brass rivets, soldered block hinge, soldered round wire catch and round wire pin. All of the badges components are non-magnetic. The bright golden eagle provides a wonderful detail and retains beautiful gilding which ends up contrasting the dark wreath quite wonderfully. The details to the eye, wings and wreath are absolutely beautiful! See pages 214-217 of Durante's Paratrooper Badge reference. A beautiful paratrooper badge!
