An excellent etched example! The obverse of the blade display an elegant "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" etch. The reverse shows the stamped "E. Pack & Sohne Solingen" maker mark. Both are crisp and clear, just the way you want to see em! The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is perfect! The blade rates Exc++/NM! There are minor surface scratches and minimal spotting throughout. The buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks wonderful! It continues to 99% coverage and remains completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw remains intact and there is a wee bump to the bottom of the ball. The frog lug can move but is still intact. The alloy based, nickel plated hilt looks good! It has a nice bright finish and retains about 97% plating coverage. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are perfect! They are tightly secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. There is a green felt plug in the mortise slot. The pommel has a well working button! This piece also comes with an age crazed black leather frog! See page 147 of Techet’s German Etched Dress Bayonets. Truly a beautiful etch that would fit nicely into your collection!
