Here we have an early Hitler Youth dagger by Carl Schmidt Sohn! The early thin blade on this one looks fine. The acid etched "Blut und Eher!" motto and "Carl Schmidt Sohn Solingen Ges. Geschutzt" maker mark are nicely executed! The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point though the tip is ever so slightly bent. The blade rates an Exc+. It shows age grey throughout. The leather buffer pad is a replacement. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard continues to remain completely dent free! It shows oxidization spotting throughout. The brown scabbard leather is soft and age crazed. It has all of its rivets intact and the button works well! A gentle coat of shoe wax would do wonders for it. The steel based, nickel plated hilt is in good condition! It shows age wear throughout. There is a small crack to the reverse grip plate that looks to have been glued back together, by who or when I do not know. The black celluloid checkered grip plates are shrunk as we do see sometimes. The small early HJ diamond retains 90% of its enamel. An early mottoed piece that may just be right for you!
