Early Army Dagger by Rich Plumacher

An early, slant-grip, tapered tang Army by a rare maker: Rich. Plumacher! The blade on this one is looks good. The fit is nice and tight and some cross graining continues to remain visible. The dark and crisp acid etched "Rich. Plumacher Sohn Solingen" maker mark is wonderfully executed! It has the early tapered tang you would expect. The blade rates an Exc/Exc+. It shows spotting and age grey throughout and there is a slight bent towards the tip, you would never know unless I told you to go look for it! The original, large, brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, nickel silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced brass oak leaf and acorn bands! It has several dents throughout and some oxidization spotting as well. The original throat retaining screws remains intact. The brass based, nickel silver plated unique early eagle crossguard provides beautiful details throughout the eagle's head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with hand enhancing and proud oak leaves and acorns. The crossguard, scabbard and pommel all match in color, plating and dark patina. The warm orange, slant trylon grip on this one is excellent! A few hits and one wee hairline crack (just below the back of the pommel about ¼ inch). Still it's very nice! Some great features on this early rare one!
