Reichswehr Army Belt Buckle

A great looking Reichswehr of the Weimar Republic Army Belt Buckle! This buckle would have been issued to the limited Weimar Republic 100,000 man army in the 1920's and early 1930's. The rectangle buckle is constructed of a two piece die struck, nickel base that has silver washed. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed national eagle on a round smooth background. The eagle is above a half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and underneath the Army motto reading: "GOTT MIT UNS" (God with us). The wreath and motto are in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The soldered on roundel lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The steel prongs and integral catch remain in good condition. There is some oxidization to the prongs. It measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. It has nicely aged with time. The condition and details throughout are excellent! A quality early piece!
