Here’s a rare bird! It was awarded to wounded German volunteers who fought in the 1936-1939 Spanish War of Liberation! It is constructed out of a die stamped, tombak base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an embossed profile of a swastika, above an Imperial M16 pattern helmet, which is again above two crossed broad swords. This then lies on a pebbled field and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath pattern, which is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie. The reverse shows a hollow back and has a soldered and knurled stick pin. Wonderful Silver wash remains!
