Early Kaufmann & Sohne NSKK Dagger

This one rates 7 out of 10 on McSarr's SA rarity rating but it is the first example that we've owned by this maker! The bright blade on this one is stunning! The dark and crisp acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and "Kaufmann & Sohne Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed and wonderfully contrast the bright blade! The crossgrain is wonderful and runs the full length of the blade. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates an easy NM! It shows a wee bit of spotting throughout, but that's it. The steel based, black painted scabbard body looks good! It retains about 80% paint coverage and continues to remain completely dent free. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look good. The lower obverse has a few hits but that's it. The ball has two wee bumps yet retains a nice round shape. All four screws continue to remain intact. The scabbard fittings match the crossguards quite nicely in color and patina. The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau marked "Nrh" (Niederrhein). The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The brown grained wood grip looks excellent! Just the common pressure marks throughout but no cracks, chips or splits! The grip / crossguard fits are perfect! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful detail and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 95% of its enamel. An excellent piece with an excellent blade!
