Here we have a very interesting transitional Eickhorn SS. These are factory Rohm blades that were in process when the Rohm purge occurred. In keeping with Hitler's edict the Rohm inscription was removed and they were retched with the RZM mark. Several examples can be seen in Witty's SS reference. The nice and bright blade on this one looks excellent! The dark and crisp acid etched "Meine Ehre heisst Treue" motto double marked "RZM 941/36/SS" / "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker marks are all beautifully executed! The crossgrain is very nice and can be seen the full length of the blade. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows the common surface scratches and minor age spotting throughout. The scabbard is steel based and black anodized. The scabbard professionally re-anodized and relacquered. It has one wee bump to the reverse. The cleaned solid nickel scabbard fittings show only the odd scratch yet they are nice and bright and match the crossguards. The ball retains a perfectly round shape and all four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect and closes with a snap! The black died hardwood grip is in superb condition! One of the best I've seen! It only shows the common pressure marks throughout and that's it. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detail and has a perfect fit! The SS roundel is also has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel! A nice one to add to your collection!
