A lovely pattern with superb detail! The 31 ½ inch plated blade on this one is a real beauty! It has an excellent mirror like finish to it with a beautifully stamped "Anton Wingen Jr. Solingen" maker mark! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit remains nice and tight! The blade rates a solid NM! It has the common surface scratches and a few rough spots to the cutting edge, but that's it! The original leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks excellent! It shows little paint loss (the ring has lost its paint) and age spidering throughout. It continues to retain 95%+ paint coverage and remains completely dent free! Both throat retaining screws remain intact as well! The brass based, gold gilded ?P' guard hilt is just beautiful! The details to the eagle crossguard, oak leaf and acorn motif and proud lion head pommel are superb!!! The lion head has two red glass eyes that gives it a wonderful prowling gaze! The ferrule is steel based. The wood based, black celluloid covered grip is in excellent condition! It has two scuffs yet no cracks or chips anywhere! The brass triple wire wrap remains fully intact and remains nice and tight. This one is illustrated in page 134 of Angolia's "Swords of Germany 1900/1945" reference book. A wonderful piece you will feel proud to own!
