Here we have a 2nd pattern Bruswick Rally Badge! The 1931 SA Braunschweig Treffen badge was originally designed as a day badge sold at the actual event. Hitler audaciously brought a larger contingent of SA to the event than was anticipated and dominated the event. As a commemoration, the badge was elevated to a 'traditions' award after 1933 and was allowed to be worn by those having taken part. It is constructed out of a die stamped nickel silver base that has been silver washed with black paint to the swastika. The oval shaped obverse features the script “S-A Treffen Braunschweig 17./18. Oktober 1931” on a smooth background surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie and has a 1927 pattern eagle, with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed black smobile swastika within its talons, to the top. The reverse shows a hollow back with a horizontally soldered on well working pin. It is also maker marked “RZM 63” (Steinhauer und Lück, Lüdenscheid). It measures 1 7/16 inches wide by 2 inches high. This piece is in wonderful condition! One you won’t want to miss!
