A fine looking piece here! The obverse of the frosted etched blade, display a great No 6 “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” inscription, detailed oak leaves and acorns and a soldiers! The reverse is shows an etched “Inf Regt 71 mot.” (Infantry Regiment 71 Motorized) dedication along with the stamped “E. Pack & Sohne Solingen” maker mark. All of the features are nice and clear! The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. There is spotting and age grey throughout. The buffer pad remains continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It shows some age crazing and spotting wear throughout yet continues to 92% coverage and remains completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw remains intact. The alloy based, nickle-silver plated hilt looks good. It shows some spotting wear throughout. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are perfect! They are tightly secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. The pommel has a well working button! This piece also comes with a worn frog. See page 144 of Techet’s “German Etched Dress Bayonets” along with pg 167A for the dedication. A nice double etched piece!
