Here's a rare SS dagger which is prized among the collecting community! The bright blade on this one looks great! The acid etched "RZM M7/29" maker mark and "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" (with the exclamation point "!") motto are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is stunning as it runs the full length of the blade, all the way from hilt to tip! The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is perfect! The blade rates an easy Exc++/NM. It shows minor surface scratches and spotting throughout along with the commonly seen runner marks. The tip looks to have been nicked about ½ mm and the blade measures the full 220mm. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great! It shows some spidering throughout and minor paint loss spots yet retains approximately 95% paint coverage and remains completely dent free! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball has two hits to its bottom. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards have nicely patinaed with time. The patina on the crossguards and scabbard fittings don't quite match but the fit is perfect. The black hardwood grip looks fine. It has the common pressure marks, one chip to the top, a hairline crack and three wee holes to the back. Finding a flawless SS grip is really hard to come by. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed and has a near perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 95% of its enamel and sits perfectly in the grip. There is some talk about these pieces being attributed to a special SS unit or for presentation, although nothing is for sure. A rare, prized piece right in front of you! Don't miss your chance!
