Here we have a 2nd pattern Bruswick Rally Badge! The 1931 SA Braunschweig Treffen badge was originally designed as a day badge sold at the actual event. Hitler audaciously brought a larger contingent of SA to the event than was anticipated and dominated the event. As a commemoration, the badge was elevated to a ‘traditions’ award after 1933 and was allowed to be worn by those having taken part. It is constructed out of an injection molded zinc alloy base that has been black burnished and has black paint work to the swastika. The oval shaped obverse features the script “S-A Treffen Braunschweig 17./18. Oktober 1931” on a smooth background surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom with a bow tie and has a 1927 pattern eagle, with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed black mobile swastika within its talons, to the top. The reverse shows a full back with a horizontally crimped on well working oxidized steel pin. It is also maker marked “RZM M1/17” (F. W. Assmann & Sohne, Lüdenscheid) and “Ges. Gesch.”. It measures approximately 1 3/8 inches wide by 2 1/16 inches high. This piece is in nice condition! One you won’t want to miss!
