A rare maker on this one! It rates 8 out of 10 on McSarr's SA rarity rating. This in another one I've had the opportunity to own once more so I will just use my old description:
"Blade is a superior example with all the crossgrain and a deep grey etch. Still retains its original shape without sharpening or retipping. Some light in/out marks. The blade grades a conservative Exc++. Scabbard is nice with 95%+ of period repainted surface intact. Of course it's got all nickel fittings and all screws are intact. The fittings all show light period wear, ball retains its original shape. There is a small hit to the lower fitting's reverse side. All the patina is matching and the fits are as you expect to see on an early piece. Handle is a nice chunk of fruitwood. There are no cracks but there is a wee flake off to the upper left obverse comer, you will have to really look to find it but it's there. There is also some flaking starting to the reverse lower crossguard fit. Perfect inlays and 100% roundel enamel is intact. There are some light pressure marks here and there as we usually see. All the fits are fine. Lower crossguard is gau stamped "He". Overall Exc++"
