A nice looking Imperial Prussian Army Belt Buckle! It is constructed out of a die struck steel base that has been gold gilded. The front roundel depicts the Imperial king's crown which is then encircled by detailed lines and enclosed by two twisted ropes. The crown is above a half laurel leaf and beery wreath and below the Army motto: "Gott Mit Uns" (God with us), which all lies on a smooth gold gilded rectangular background. The buckle shows wear to the high areas. It continues to retain 70% gilt and retains good detail. The steel prongs and soldered on brass catch remain in good condition. The edges are slightly bent, not allowing the prongs to go all the way around. It measures approximately 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high. A fine piece.
