Gorgeous craftsmanship displayed here! The eagle is constructed out of hand embroidered twisted gold bullion thread which has been stitched to a navy blue wool and blue buckram base that has a glued on black paper backing. The obverse depicts a Kriegsmarine open winged eagle, clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. The reverse shows the hand stitched on threads, blue buckram and the glued on black paper backing. It measures approximately 2 2/4 inches wide by 1 3/8 inches tall. Accompanying this piece is the appropriate Kregsmarine Wreath and Cockade Insignia. It is a multi-piece construction, which consist of gold bullion and silver/aluminum and black threads all on a blue wool and black paper backing. The obverse features a centrally placed three piece cockade which consists of a red felt center surrounded by silver/aluminum thread and a black rayon exterior and thin silver aluminum border. Surrounding the cockade is a bullion oak leaf and acorn wreath which lies on the blue wool/black paper backing. The backing shows remnants of a glued on tag. It measures 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches tall. Beautiful detail and condition!
