A very unique Turkish Navy piece! The 31 ¼ inch, double etched, single fuller, plated blade on this one looks good! The obverse etching nicely displays a decorative motif of swirls, leaves, military items, a sailing ship and a fouled anchor. The reverse also shows swirls, leaves, military items and flags, along with a prominent Turkish star and crescent. The rest of the plating gives the blade a nice mirror like finish. The tip is perfect and the fit is tight. The blade rates Exc++. It shows surface scratches throughout along with a few rough spots to the cutting edge. The green felt buffer pad remains intact. The aluminum based, black leather covered scabbard looks excellent! It retains a nice dark color along with all of its reverse stitching. It shows the common pressure marks throughout. The brass based gold gilded scabbard fittings look great as well. The top reverse has a spike which enables the hilt flap to tightly secure the sword to the scabbard. The multi-piece hilt is brass based and gold gilded. Hand guard nicely displays random pebbling with a fouled anchor above a crescent moon. It also has an oval hole in it for a portepee. The pommel and spine depict a hand chased lion head and mane. The ferrule shows a nice looking leaf design. The grip is bone. It has several scratches and chips throughout. It is tightly wrapped in a double brass wire. A neat piece for the right collector!
