Imperial Etched M89 Basket Hilt Cavalry Sword

You've got to love these imperial pieces! The 32 5/8 inch triple etched, single fuller, plated blade looks great! The obverse etch depicts a military man on a horse, a horse head and flowers/leaves all surrounding "Hus. Regt K?nig Humbert u. Inlien (1. Kurhess.) No13", (13th Hussars a Prussian regiment). The reverse etch depicts a grouping of military pieces a crowned "U" and flowers/leaves all surrounding a cavalry war scene. The spine is etched as well with the maker mark reading "Weyersberg & Co Solingen". The plating gives it a great mirror like shine. The fit is tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It has some rough spots to the cutting edge. The scabbard is steel based and black painted. It has oxidization spotting throughout along with five obvious pressure marks. The ring is fixed as it should be and it is missing its screw. The reverse is marked "13.H.4.97." and matches the hilt. The basket hilt is constructed out of a solid nickel-silver base and has two foldable portions. It is maker marked to the very bottom "W & Co.". The basket hand guard piece has a small crack and depicts a lovely detailed Prussian eagle. The black bakelite grip is in excellent shape! Overall it is a good looking private purchase sword that may just complete your collection!
