Early SA Dagger by Aug. Merten

An great looking one here! The blade on this one looks excellent! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "Aug. Merten Ww. Solingen-Gr." maker mark are both beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a sharp point. This blade rates a solid Exc++. There is some spotting around the maker mark along with the common surface scratches throughout. 1/2mm of the tip has been hit, it measures over the 220mm mark so it's no big deal, yet I tell you all the same. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks great as well! The edges look as though they have been hit by something sharp several times. The solid nickel scabbard fittings show evidence of wear throughout and match the crossguards in color and wear. The ball has been pushed in and all four screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "Wm" (Westmark). The brown hardwood grip looks great. It shows several pressure marks throughout. yet no cracks or chips. The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A good one!
