A rare bird! This one rates 9 out of 10 for rarity on McSaars SA rarity rating list! The blade on this one is in excellent condition! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "E. Gerling Solingen" maker mark are both crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates Exc++/NM. It only shows spotting throughout (mostly to the obverse) and the common surface scratches. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard looks excellent. It shows the slightest age spotting yet it remains completely dent free and retains a great dark brown finish to it! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent matching the crossguards in color and patina! The ball has been pushed in and all four scabbard screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "P" (Pommern). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent! It only shows the slightest pressure marks and minor flakes to the reverse top. No chips or cracks! The solid nickel eagle retains beautiful details and has a perfect fit. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. A nice rare one!
