A decent piece with a rare maker mark! "Rare maker?" You say, yes there were lot's of the Weyersberg clan in the Edged Weapons business. Actually 6 different Weyersberg's made SA's. Some were quite prolific like Paul and Max but others were just a bit of a spurt and petered out soon. This one rates 8 out of 10 on McSaars SA rarity rating list! The blade on this one is looks ok. The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "maker mark" are crisp and beautifully executed! The dagger blade has been polished hard and no crossgrain remains. The fit and tip are both perfect as well! The blade rates Exc/Exc+. It has the commonly seen surface scratches, age spotting/grey throughout along with the slightest pitting. The steel based period black repainted scabbard is looks great. It remains completely dent free. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look great. The ball has a small push to the bottom. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "S". The brown hardwood grip is in perfect condition meaning no chips, cracks or chips. The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A rare maker and all at a good looking price!
