Early SA Dagger by Albert Dorschel

A nice early example by Dorschel! The blade on this one is bright. The crisp acid etched "Alles fur Deutschland" motto and maker mark are both beautifully executed! It looks to me like someone "zipped" the blade, meaning they cleaned it with the crossgrain likely with some sort of mechanical means. I'm guessing there was some pitting between the motto and the crossguard because the cleaning is concentrated there. Anyways they did a good job and unless you have a well trained eye you would never know. It has a perfect fit and perfect tip! The blade rates an Exc+. The steel based undented, brown anodized scabbard is in great condition! It retains 100% of it's factory brown finish as well as evidence of lacquer! The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent! There is normal period hits but nothing serious. The ball continues to retain its round shape and all four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and it closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is Gau stamped "Wm". The grip / crossguard fits are near perfect! The brown hardwood grip looks great. There are pressure marks throughout but no chips, no flakes not cracks. The solid nickel eagle is beautifully detailed! The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 100% of its enamel. A nice piece all around!
