A rare Defense Economy Leader Badge (Wehrwirtschaftsführer Abzeichen) by C.E. Juncker, Berlin with Lapel Badge. This badge was instituted in 1939 and awarded to industrialists who made important contributions towards the war effort. It is constructed out of a die struck aluminum-alloy base that has been gold fire gilded. The oval shaped obverse features, from top to bottom; a German national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika above a bannered “Wehrwirtschaftsführer” (Military Economist), above smoking industrial buildings which is all surrounded by a border that has a half oak leaf wreath to the bottom. The full back reverse has a soldered on oval plate round wire catch, soldered on oval plate barrel hinge and flat wire catch. All of which remain in well working condition. The gold highlights are impeccable, shining wonderfully in the light! It measures approximately 1 13/16 inches tall by 1 3/8 inches wide. Gorgeous! Accompanying the award, as is commonly seen, is the appropriate lapel badge for everyday use. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been gold gilded. The obverse features a German national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika above a bannered “W W Fü” (Wehrwirtschaftsführer - Military Economist) and above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath . The full back reverse has a soldered on and knurled round wire stickpin. The face measures approximately 7/8 of an inch wide by 9/16 of an inch tall. A wonderful assembly that your collection needs!
