Interesting Transitional DLV/ 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger

Ok this is one for the advanced collector. Here's an rare early Transitional Horster all in early nickel silver! Most guys know little about these but they do make an excellent study. They are rare being only produced for a few short months before production what switched to the pure 1st model luft. Whittmann speaks to this dagger specifically in chapter 3 of his Luftwaffe reference. The blade on this one rates an Exc++. It remains bright with a solid fit, a perfect tip, and a beautifully executed early double oval maker mark! Just below the maker mark is a Luftwaffe "stick-bird" clutching a "5". The blade has some light runner marks and witness marks from where the runners have been. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The cardboard based scabbard is in good condition. The scabbard body has some small pressure marks and the odd nick but it still retains 100% leather coverage. Yes some guys might shoe polish the minor imperfections but that, I leave to you. The scabbard has the usual bumps from where the runners have been pushing against the cardboard for the past 75 years. Look at the staples that secure the scabbard fittings. Textbook and exactly what one expects on these things. The solid chain has 14 lower and 9 upper ringlets that attach? to a pair of removable clips. Wait a second!! What the heck... this has clips installed on the chain!! That's not "textbook"!!... Well guys dust off Whitty's Vol, II Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Luftwaffe pg 58. You will see that this IS textbook. Just rarely seen except in books. Like Witty's example mine is from an early dagger, perhaps this was a factory option or just a local modification, regardless it's neat! The scabbard fittings have nicely patinaed perfectly matching the hilt. They have a few small marks from normal period wear. The hilt fittings are all nickel silver with separately inserted swastikas that remain in excellent condition with all the silver remaining "between the legs". The grip is triple wrapped with perfect brass wire. There is light normal wear to the grip but no abuse
