Tank Destruction Strip in Silver

I love these pieces! Just think about what the guy had to go through to get one of these! The tank destruction badge in silver was instituted by Hitler on March 9, 1942 to honor individuals who single handedly destroyed an enemy tank with hand held explosives! It is constructed out of a machine embroidered silver flatwire and black rayon with a pinned on die stamped steel based silver washed tank that is held to the cloth with three flatwire prongs and a rectangular steel plate. The rectangular shaped obverse features a centrally placed silvered tank that is in front of silver flatwire cloth that is bordered to the top and bottom in a wavy black strip. The tank is beautiful and elegantly displays tons of detail! Just look at all of the wheels and gears! The reverse has a glued on blue wool, that shows minor mothing. It measures approximately 3 ½ inches wide by 1 ¼ inches tall. A nice combat award!
