A cool piece by Eickhorn, looks like it hung on the Vet's wall for 50 years as a war tropy! He was definitely a smoker. The blade on this one has a stamped mid period. The crossgrain looks great the tip appears to have been repointed slightly along the way sometime. There's some age gray on this, looks like old fingerprints. The blade on this one rates Exc+ The original buffer pad remains intact. The dark scabbard looks great! It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and both throat retaining screws remain intact and unturned, actually this whole thing has never been disassembled. It has a snug fit up to the crossguard. The aluminum eagle crossguard and pommel look awesome! The eagle has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The pommel is beautifully hand enhanced and has proud gilt swastika surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. 95% of the gold gilding remains intact. The early trylon grip has aged to a dark orange over time with a couple wee hairlines to the reverse. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. Included is teh original portepee. Overall a great example woith all matching patina!
