Wingen only made transitionals for one year, 1939 so they are desirable and hard to find. The blade on this one rates Exc++. It's bright with some minor spotting, Someone cleaned it along the way at some point. It has a perfect tip, excellent fit, the crossgrain is absolutely stunning and the dark acid etched motto and maker mark are beautifully executed! That blade is definitely going to look really nice in a display! The black factory painted scabbard looks awesome with coverage at 99.9%. There are a couple pinkprickmarks towards the upper fitting. The scabbard fittings retain excelling plating with the only loss to the upper obverse. All of the screws remain intact and the ball is correctly shaped with a small bruise to the very bottom. The scabbard / crossguard fit is near perfect, and closes with a snap! The crossguards have great plating. there is a couple small marks to the lower reverse, like maybe some one tapped something with it. The crossguards / grip fits are excellent! The brown multi-toned hardwood grip is perfect! The solid nickel eagle is nicely detailed. The SA roundel also looks and fits well, retaining 100% of its enamel! A rare transitional example, that is sure to make for a nice display.
