Early SA Dagger by Paul Kohl

A nice example by a rare maker! The maker rates 8 out of 10 for rarity! The blade on this one is beautiful! The acid etched "Alles für Deutschland" motto and proud fisherman "Paul Kohl Solingen" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to the tip. The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! This blade rates an easy NM. It shows minor age spotting throughout along with the typical surface scratches/runner marks. The scabbard is steel based and brown anodized. The obverse is in wonderful condition and is obviously better than the reverse. The reverse has oxidization spotting one pressure mark and several little nicks. The solid nickel scabbard fittings match the crossguards perfectly. The ball has one wee bruise to its bottom yet it retains a nice round shape and all four screws remain tightly intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The reverse of the lower crossguard is marked "Nrh" (Niederrhein). The brown hardwood grip looks excellent! Again most of the wear is to the reverse. The solid nickel is beautiful! It shows nice detail and matching patina. The SA roundel has a perfect fit and retains 99%+ of its enamel. One that will surely make for a great display!
