Here we have a 1st pattern RLB EM/NCO Belt Buckle. The first pattern RLB EM/NCO’s buckle was almost identical to the buckle worn by the DLV (Deutscher Luftsport Verband). It is constructed out of a single piece of die struck brass that has been silver washed and black enamel painted. The obverse roundel depicts an open winged DLV eagle gripping a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons above a pebbled round background that is all encircled by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The roundel lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The reverse has a soldered on catch and steel prongs. Both remain in excellent condition. There is minor wear to the high areas yet the eagle and wreath look awesome. 99%l of the swastikas paint remains intact. It measures approximately 2 1/2 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high. Included is a black leather belt measuring approx 40”, it is supple and in good shape with all the stitching intact. The inside is marked “SM H. Kiesel” in handwritten ink, possibly a personalization by original owner. A nice set!
